There is a wonderful collection of historic buildings in El Dorado County, including Victorian, bungalow, and art deco homes, as well as old hotels, soda works, and even an authentic Norse mansion. These buildings are truly works of art, a never-ending fascination for those who love early architecture and history. You'll also find historic remnants, such as rock or brick ruins and other structures in various stages of decay.

In Placerville, some excellent historic buildings can be found all along Main Street, on Hwy. 49 (Spring Street) on a half-mile stretch immediately north of Hwy. 50, and lining Cedar Ravine south of Main Street. But these are by no means all there is! You'll be delighted at what you'll discover on "the streets of Placerville."

Worthy of a visit, too, are the many old buildings that dot the scenery throughout the County, in communities such as Coloma, Georgetown, Diamond Springs, El Dorado, Camino, South Lake Tahoe, and along the American River Canyon (Hwy. 50).
If you're not able to visit in person, we've provided a Photo Gallery for your viewing.
Many historic buildings offer overnight accommodations and/or meals, and are listed under Lodging and Restaurants. See also Bed & Breakfast Inns and our Photo Gallery's Historic Buildings.
